General updated guidelines for infection prevention
To ensure the safety and well-being of everyone, it is now crucial for individuals who have a fever or cough to stay at home, regardless of whether they have recently traveled to an affected area or come into contact with someone who has Covid-19.
To limit the spread of the virus, it is imperative to minimize social interactions and maintain a distance of 2 meters (6 feet) from other people. By practicing social distancing, we can help reduce the risk of transmission.
In order to prioritize public health, it is strongly advised to avoid close contact with others whenever possible. Taking these precautions can greatly contribute to keeping ourselves and our communities safe during these challenging times.
General guidelines for healthcare workers
To prevent the spread of Covid-19 among carers, several recommendations have been made, starting with prioritizing hand hygiene.
Hand Hygiene:
All carers should follow the WHO Five Movements of Hand Hygiene approach. This involves thoroughly washing your hands:
- Before touching a client,
- Before clean/aseptic procedures,
- After exposure to body fluids or potential risks,
- After touching a client, and
- After touching the client’s surroundings.
By strictly adhering to these hand hygiene practices, carers can play a crucial role in minimizing the risk of transmission and ensuring the safety of both themselves and their clients.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Wearing appropriate PPE is of utmost importance. Before putting on PPE, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly. After removing PPE, promptly wash your hands again. When removing gloves, take care not to touch the outside of the gloves with your bare hands.
Covid-19 Reporting:
